- The fast-paced context of Somalia and the Countrys multiple and interlinked challenges require the flexibility pooled funding mechanisms can provide. The Somalia Joint Fund (SJF) plays this role by accommodating flexible and innovative programmatic approaches that support the UNs response to Somalias National Development Plan, as outlined in the UN Cooperation Framework 2021-2025 (UNCF). The Fund supports the operationalization of the humanitarian-development-peace nexus across its portfolio to create synergies, leverage complementary expertise, and maximize collective impact through joint programmes and strategic partnerships. Currently, the SJF has a capitalization of USD 479 million and an active portfolio of 10 joint programmes and the PBFs current portfolio comprises eight projects with over a total of about USD 16.8 million. The two funds work collaboratively to coordinate on investment in nexus programming of jointly funded programmes under the Integrated Office of the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary General, Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Somalia (UN IO).
